sagyobar stand

sagyobar stand is a standing bar and bottle shop operated by suginomori brewery, the maker of narai.

What began in 2023 as a small space in a warehouse across from the brewery has found a new home. In 2026, sagyobar moved into the lovingly restored Ichikawa Shoten, a historic building along the main street of Narai-juku, beginning its next chapter in the heart of the post town.

Here, visitors can experience narai where it belongs—on the land where it is brewed. Enjoy a glass at your own pace, discover a favorite bottle, and carry a piece of Narai home with you.

More than a place to drink or shop, sagyobar is a place to pause. A place where travelers and locals cross paths, where conversations unfold naturally, and where the everyday rhythms of this historic town can be felt over a shared glass of sake.

We hope it becomes a welcoming stop along your journey, and a gentle connection to the life of narai.

Inside, you can explore the full range of narai and purchase bottles to take home, as well as enjoy curated tasting flights and sake available by the glass.

We also offer narai β, our experimental brewing series that has served as a platform for exploration and innovation. The latest release, narai β 7, previously available only within Nagano Prefecture, is now offered as an exclusive sake available only in Narai-juku.

Alongside our sake, you'll find a selection of original apparel and other goods inspired by the brewery's philosophy and craft. Together, they create a space where visitors can experience the world of suginomori brewery in a more personal and tangible way.

The water used to brew narai comes from mountain springs near the watershed that divides the Shinano and Kiso river systems.

Exceptionally soft, with a hardness of less than 25, this water is known for its gentle texture and subtle sweetness. For generations, it has sustained daily life in Narai-juku.

At sagyobar stand, you can taste this brewing water itself.

To drink the water that lies at the heart of the sake is to experience its origin. It is a simple yet meaningful encounter—one that can only be found here.

Also housed within the same building is Shiomusubi, a specialty rice ball shop run by Narai-juku residents Mr. and Mrs. Kojima.

Made with carefully selected local rice and salt, their simple yet thoughtful onigiri pair beautifully with narai. Together, they offer a taste of everyday life in Narai-juku—experienced through the shared pleasures of sake and food.
